The Lithuanian Actuarial Society (LAS) is the association uniting actuaries in Lithuania founded in 1996. LAS represents and protects the interests of its members, propagates actuarial services and their benefits to residents, businesses and organisations in Lithuania. It also organises scientific seminars and conferences, participates in solving actuarial, social and financial problems and provides suggestions for relevant legislation.
LAS ensures the qualification and professionalism of its members through high initial acceptance requirements for candidates, continuing professional development (CPD) requirements, strong ethical code and a disciplinary scheme for members.
LAS became a full member of the Actuarial Association of Europe (AAE, formerly Groupe Consultatif Actuariel Européen) in 2005 and a full member of International Actuarial Association (IAA) in 2008. LAS actively cooperates with other actuarial associations including Latvian Actuarial Association and Estonian Actuarial Society.
Current chairman of LAS is Eugenija Bieliauskienė, board members: Eugenija Bieliauskienė, Gabija Girdžiūtė, Paulius Ptakauskas, Evaldas Valeiša, Kęstutis Gadeikis. In total the society has seventy-five full, associate and honorary members.
